Steve grew up on a farm in Arborfield, Saskatchewan. In addition to his involvement on the family farm, Steve worked full time buying grain and selling crop inputs with the United Grain Growers, (now Viterra). Following college Steve became the General Manager of the Hub City Curling Club in Saskatoon, (a 1000 member sport facility). After earning his first degree he moved to Calgary where he became a Human Resources Generalist, reporting to the VP of HR, of a four billion dollar oil and gas company. In 1997 his next career move brought him back to his agricultural roots, when he joined AgCall to develop the recruitment division of the firm, AgCall Human Resources. Steve returns to the farm each fall to help with harvest.
“I like being in the loop and connected to what is going on, and building a good network,” says Steve. “I like helping people find a good job and I enjoy helping a client find a great employee to fill a need. It’s very rewarding.”
Steve says years his years in human resources have given him the strong ability to locate and assess people. In fact, if he could was a super-hero and could have any power, he would want the ability to read minds.
“I could assess people much better that way,” Steve laughs.
In his spare time, Steven is an avid scuba diving enthusiast, a farmer who still goes home every fall to help with harvest, a jogger and a dog-lover.
