Our client is an innovative and growing seed company who is helping their customers prosper by providing superior genetics, expertise and technology. They currently seek candidates to promote and market seed products for specific territories in Ontario.
Working from a home-based office, the Yield Specialist is responsible for the promotion and marketing of seed to growers within a defined territory. As part of the sales group, the Yield Specialist effectively interacts with the sales, business support and product development/research groups, with occasional interaction with the dealer network to provide selling or agronomic support (product and trait technical support, agronomy support and sales training) and to foster trust and cooperation within a common marketplace.
In this exciting role, you’ll prepare an annual business plan to identify district market trends, new product requirements, sales goals, and sales action plans. You’ll achieve sales goals by selling seed products to targeted farmers not serviced by a local dealer. You’ll implement a comprehensive strip trial plot program to promote products to customers, evaluate the product line, and to assist in the selection of new product introductions. The Yield Specialist documents and resolves all inquiries related to crop establishment and re-plant concerns, and general product performance.
In addition, you’ll monitor customer inventory throughout the selling season, and position products for the best opportunity for customer satisfaction. You’ll have responsibility for matters of credit related to customer accounts. You’ll actively participate in monthly team meetings, will participate in the set up and execution of promotional events- regional and local- and will participate in plot tours, CCA training, supplier technical training, industry meetings, conferences, business skills training, and agronomy training.
To ensure your success in this full-time role, your qualifications will include a university degree or a college diploma in agriculture (CCA designation is an asset), a sound understanding of agriculture, 3 to 5 years previous agricultural sales experience, excellent organizational skills, excellent interpersonal skills, a commitment to serve the needs of customers, a passion to succeed and the drive to grow the business as if it was your own! A seed warehouse is not a requirement but would be an asset.
